EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Our client utilises a number of agency suppliers across their business, but felt that this project would prove to be too demanding for their current network and consequently appointed Rapier Employment.

They requested that we source skilled warehouse and administration colleagues for a new distribution operation, within a very demanding timescale.

  • 150 colleagues to be recruited, assessed, trained and made available for work within six weeks
  • Applicants had to have experience in specialist fields and had to evidence relevant experience within the last year
  • Applicants were subject to strict selection criteria including DBS checks and Drug & Alcohol screening
  • All applicants had to have an accredited RTITB/ITSSAR counter-balance licence as part of the job requirements

Our client is a worldwide logistics service provider, operating within a variety of sectors throughout more than 200 countries and employing over 300000 staff.

THE CHALLENGES

  • A heavily industrialised local area with low levels of unemployment
  • Specialist and demanding job criteria
  • Sensitivity of the operation and the significant financial penalties our customer would incur for any delays
Given the short time frames we quickly initiated an extensive media campaign, which included a mixture of radio, local and national press, local data bases searches, job centres and a significant online presence from job boards to social media

HOW RAPIER HELPED

Our implementation team was deployed to understand and then map the site’s requirements, followed by the creation of a bespoke project plan that included advertising and recruitment specifications.

This was delivered predominantly via an on-site team responsible for interviews, testing, customer liaison and planning.

Branch teams performed validation, authentication and reference checks.

The process was supported by the central function teams of HR, H&S and Training.

RESULTS

The required headcount was successfully delivered, on-time and on-budget. Rapier Employment has continued to support the site’s requirements with additional staff as our client’s requirements continue to grow.
